Jerome James is an energetic, vibrant, well rounded percussionist whose creative skills are continually being unlocked as his journey thru life unfolds in SO many incredible ways ... He is a Hawaiian born musician whose music has taken him throughout the Hawaiian Islands, Cuba, San Francisco, and New York CIty.

Born to a musical family, Jerome has had many musical influences thoughout his life. His father Charles James Jr. is a renown Jazz drummer who has played with such great musicians like Trummy Young, Dave Holden, and Gene Harris. His grandmother, Evelyn James (AKA Maxine Ware) of BBC fame is a well known Jazz vocalist in Canada. His father has passed the tradition of drumming along to his sons and holds a high caliber drum school and drum shop in Hawaii. With over 170 students a week, developed a high passion for teacher early in his life.

After years of gigging throughout the Hawaiian Islands and spending time at the University of Hawaii, Jerome decided that he was in search of something more. In 2000, he visited New York City, and came to the realization that he needed a change of pace to the "city that never sleeps". In August 2001, he made his big move to NYC to continue his musical education in the streets of New York.

Jerome has played with many talented musicians and artists such as Cecilio & Kapono, Azure McCall, Rich Crandell, Tennyson Stevens, Master Henry Gibson, Gary Sterling, Gave Balthazar, Eric Miyashiro and countless others. Jerome has been honored to perform in "The Great Big Hawaiian Jazz Blowout" as a side musician and leading his own Group "The Jerome James Jazz Collective". He has been recognized by musicians throughout NYC such as Keith Marks, Sarah Jane Morris, Dave Mann and has played at clubs such as Tonic, The American Legion, The Bitter End, The Wreck Room, The Triad and other musical holes throghout the city. Jerome is verse in many musical styles and knows how to "vibe" and "listen" to music in a deep, focused spiritual ways.
